Swimming in the Vail Valley is a year-round sport. Whether it's at the Avon Recreation Center's large pool and water facility, in one of the many resort pools around town, or in a swimming hole in the river, there are many ways to get in the water in Vail. The Avon Recreation Center has it all. For beginners, lessons are available contact them for times and availability. For the more advanced swimmer, lap lanes are also available. For the more recreational swimmer, check out the slides and other fun in their indoor water park. Many hotels and condo properties around town also have pools and hot tubs onsite, so check with yours prior to arrival and make sure you bring your suit. Depending on the time of year and the levels of the rivers, there are also some areas in the region where a quick dip in a water hole can be just the refreshing end to a day on the hiking trail that you are looking for. Make sure you are a very strong swimmer and river savvy; the river is no place to swim if you aren't sure what you are doing.
